Needs
Gmail (to find the bill), the provider's website login. Optional: phone calling beta.
Payoff
$3,500 a year on car insurance (reported by TNW). Community posts, unverified: $288 a year off Comcast, $480 a year from an AT&T autopay discount.

Why this lab

"Lowering a bill" is one of Meta's own launch examples. Early users posted results, including a call transcript of Muse negotiating $288 a year off a Comcast bill. reported The same user noted that most support lines "are NOT ready for agents". reported This lab works through the provider's website and chat, and treats phone calls as optional.

Pick your bill

Pick one: internet, mobile, or car insurance. Pick the one where your promo price ended most recently. That is where the gap is widest.

Steps

  1. Find the bill:
Prompt

Find my latest [provider] bill in Gmail. Summarize the plan, monthly price, any promo end date, and every fee.

  1. Find discounts you already qualify for:
Prompt

Log into my [provider] account and list every discount I'm not using: autopay, paperless, loyalty, bundles, plan changes with the same speed or coverage. Don't change anything yet.

Muse will ask for the login. Enter it only in the credential prompt.

  1. Get the market price:
Prompt

Check current new-customer prices from [provider] and two competitors at my address for the same speed or coverage. Put them in a table with the monthly price, the price after the promo ends, and contract length.

  1. Ask for the lower rate:
Prompt

Using that table, contact [provider] through their online chat or message center. Ask for a lower rate or a retention offer and cite the competitor prices. Don't accept anything, change services, or agree to a contract without my approval.

  1. Optional, if you have the calling beta:
Prompt

Call [provider] and negotiate my bill down using the table. Bring me in if they need to verify my identity. Don't accept anything without my approval.

  1. Save the result:
Prompt

Save the new price, what changed, and the confirmation number in a document in my Library. Remind me two weeks before the new price ends.

Check
  • You have a written offer or confirmation number.
  • The reminder is in Your assistantUpcoming.
  • Next month's bill matches the new price. Set a note to check it.
Watch out
  • Do not let Muse accept a contract extension without reading it yourself.
  • Switching insurance: confirm the new policy is active before the old one is cancelled, so you are never uncovered.
  • Verification codes need you there, live.
  • TechCrunch reports phone calling as a beta for US businesses. Reuters reported that in a test, human contractors placed some calls for users. A Meta VP called it "a miss".

If they say no

Prompt

Ask to be transferred to the cancellation or retention team and repeat the request. If there is still no offer, save the competitor table and remind me in 30 days to try again.

Write down your number

Old annual cost minus new annual cost. Add it to your total from Lab 2.
